Artist Perspective: Why the Concepts of Race and Ethnicity Need to be Reevaluated
The best available science suggests that “Race” is functionally a Social Construct, without any universally accepted biological basis. It is also a fact, (by definition) that the related concept of “Ethnicity” is a Social Construct. We can group and/or divide ourselves by any criteria we wish, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that emphasizing such commonalities and/or differences will serve any constructive or beneficial purpose.
